IF you’d told me a year ago that I’d fly a plane and make an Easter bunny costume in the same day I’d have thought you were mad … but that’s exactly what happened. Life is certainly varied at the moment!
This week, as always, there have been highs (quite literally in the clouds) and lows, with a lot of ordinary but lovely moments thrown in for good measure.
Here’s what we’ve been up to…
Out and About:
We’ve had a busy week this week, and have only had one day with no plans. On Tuesday and Wednesday we met up with some friends and headed to a soft play centre (I feel like we live in soft play places at the moment). The one we’ve started going to has quite a big area for under threes, which is great, but me and Santi still end up walking around in circles while the other babies enjoyed playing! The only break I get from walking is when I clamber up through the soft play maze to the big slide … I’m exhausted by the time we get to the top, but it’s worth it!
We had a slight incident after this photo was taken as Santi slid off the seat and couldn’t get back up … these cars need seatbelts!
On Wednesday afternoon we had our last Sing and Sign lesson of the stage one course, and had a little certificate presentation for the babies. After a busy morning I was worried Santi would either sleep through the class (it wouldn’t be the first time) or would be in a bad mood, but he loved it as usual. We’ve signed up to the next course and I can’t wait for it to start! I’ll be back in work then, but luckily I’d arranged to have Wednesdays off and that’s when the class will be taking place … woohoo, we won’t miss out!
My mother had a day off work on Thursday, so we headed to the McArthur Glen outlet village for a look around (which was a lot less disastrous than last time we went!). Shopping isn’t quite the same with a baby … there are a lot of stops for feeding and changing, and I think we spent as much time in the park that I’d never noticed pre-Santi as in the shops! It was a lovely day anyway, and we even managed to sneak in a coffee and cake while he napped.
Fun at Home:
I’ve been trying to sort out the front garden as it’s become a bit wild over the winter (I have no idea what I’m doing, so it mostly involves throwing seeds around), and Santi’s been enjoying spending time outside ‘helping’ me. I don’t get much done when he’s with me as I’m too busy making sure he doesn’t eat the dirt!
We get a lot of hellos from people walking past and Santi gets very excited by anyone walking a dog down the street … we really don’t get much gardening done!
This weekend Santi has been under the weather – we’re not sure if it’s a bit of a bug or teething – so we haven’t been out much. At the last minute we decided he was probably up to the Sing and Sign Easter party I’d booked us on to, so we had a mad rush to get ready and dress him in his costume. I’d somehow managed to throw together a fluffy tail and felt bow the night before, and thought Santi looked incredibly cute as a bunny. We had fun, bit did have to leave early as he was getting a bit grumpy towards the end.
Time for me:
I think the only time I had to myself last week was my pilates class on Thursday night, but on Friday me and Stew had the day to ourselves as we had our flying lesson! I was quite nervous getting into the plane as it was so small, but it was amazing. Stew had the first go in the pilot’s seat as it was his birthday present, then we landed at a tiny airport to refuel, switched seats and it was my turn.
I wasn’t expecting to actually take control of the plane, but we really got to have a go at flying, and the pilot was so chilled out he was happy to let us really get into it. We learned how to ascend and descend, turn left and right, and listened in on the control tower at the airport. I’ll write a full post on this at some point as I have so many photos!
My Happiest Moment:
As I mentioned, Santi has been poorly this weekend and feeling really sorry for himself. He’s had a temperature and hasn’t been up to much more than watching In the Night Garden (yay), but despite not being himself he’s still given us some lovely smiles and giggles, which is really lovely when he’s so down.
Get my blog on Facebook! I’ve been meaning to set up a Facebook page but keep getting distracted by other things … I’m determined to get it done this week! (Edited … I got round to it today! You can find me here)
