Here’s a round-up of Easter events in Llanelli and further afield in Carmarthenshire for the school holidays in 2018.
There’s plenty to choose from – theatre shows, egg hunts, outdoor fun, and of course plenty of chocolate!
EASTER EGG AND BUNNY HUNTS:
Parc y Bocs Easter egg hunt
March 30, 2pm-4pm, £2.
Join in the Easter egg hunt at Parc y Bocs. All participants will receive a chocolate egg at the end of the challenge.
Family friendly tour and egg hunt at Stradey Castle
Sunday, April 1, 2.15pm. Adults £10, concessions £8, school age children £5
The first tour of the year falls on Easter Sunday, so organisers have turned it into a family friendly event. There will be an Easter egg hunt in the woods near the lake where the bluebells will be coming out, and the tour will end with home-made refreshments in the dining room. Easter events at Parc Howard
Monday, April 2, 2pm-4pm.
Easter bunny hunt – 2pm-4pm with an Easter egg for all (£1entry). Free colouring competition – closing time 3.30pm Easter bonnet parade – judging at 3pm. Refreshments available.
Easter hunt at Pembrey Country Park
Friday, March 30 – Monday, April 2, all day. £3 per child
Pick up your clue sheet from the visitor centre and discover the hidden gems around the park while discovering hidden letters, solve the clues and you will recieve a prize.
Cadbury egg hunt at Dinefwr
March 30 – April 15, 10am-4pm.
Actif storytelling, indoor and outdoor trails and the Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt will all take place in the grounds of Dinefwr Park. Tractor trailer tours ar e also back for you to get a closer look at the famous White Park Cattle.
Easter Explorer at Aberglasney Gardens
March 26 – April 16, 10am-6pm (last entry at 5pm), free for children
Explore the gardens and crack the clues to find 15 letters which spell a message! Get it right to earn your Easter egg.
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Play Cwtsh Chwarae, Capel Hendre
Friday-Sunday, March 30-April 2, 9am and 9.30am (some sessions have sold out). £7 plus entry fee.
Enjoy breakfast with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, games, activities and a gift.
Easter holidays at the National Botanic Garden of Wales
Friday, March 30 – Sunday, April 15.
There’s so much going on over the holidays, that it’s best to just check out the garden’s website – here. Some of the highlights in the events listings include Folly Farm magician Jugglestruck, the Quack Pack, bushcraft adventure with a campfire, archery, and even the chance to abseil off the top of the science centre! Events take place every day, with family activities from 11am-3pm. Visitors can also use the garden’s boomerang ticket, which allows them to revisit for free within seven days of their original entry – so, hang on to your tickets!
Dusty’s giant Easter duck hunt, WWT Llanelli
March 30 – April 16,
Help Dusty find the giant yellow ducks hiding around the grounds this Easter. Bring the family along thoughout the Easter holidays and have a quacking time exploring WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre. You’ll need to use all of your special detective skills to track down these cheeky ducks and claim your prize!

Easter at the Gwili Railway
March 30 – April 4, 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Prices vary, visit www.gwili-railway.co.uk for details.
The Easter Bunny returns to the Gwili Railway. Take a trip back in time on the steam railway and enjoy an activity pack, Easter egg, face painting, magician and balloon magic.
Easter open day at Mynydd Mawr Railway
Saturday, March 31. 11am-4pm
Head to the railway for a day of clue finding, train rides and chocolate eggs! All tickets will include unlimited train rides and a place on the Easter Egg Trail. Train rides are planned to be carried out using the newly arrived Class 600 diesel locomotive and our buffet car with on-train refreshments being offered for the first time.
Children’s tickets include a chocolate egg per child.
All proceeds go towards the Cynheidre Heritage Project, registered charity no. 1087985. Note that all attractions are subject to availability on day of event.
Spring farm, St Catherine’s Walk, Carmarthen
Wednesday, April 4, 11am-3pm.
Roar into spring at St Catherine’s Walk! Youngsters can meet Blossom a fairytale white lion, which combines animatronic puppetry and a spectacular costume to great effect. There will be a pair of bouncy stilt-walking bunnies popping up to pose for selfies with shoppers too.
DaisyRoo’s Nature Crew, Mynydd Mawr woodland park
Saturday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 10, 10am. £8 per child (under ones go free), £7 per sibling.
Have an adventure in the woods and try out activities including the mud kitchen, climbing, nature crafts, den building, whittling and woodland play . Hot snacks and drinks are provided. Bring layers and waterproofs as sessions run no matter what the weather. To book, contact email@example.com.
Llanelli town centre, Tuesday, April 10, 12pm-3pm.
Batman returns for another superhero day in Llanelli – and this year he is bringing two Batmobiles plus the Jatcycle. Free face painting and crafts, free car parking in the town centre, and fairground rides (at a cost).
All superheroes are welcome – dress up as your favourite!
FILM AND THEATRE:
Jungle Book, Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen

Immersion Theatre bring their wildest show yet, a musical adaptation of family favourite, The Jungle Book. Filled with catchy music, a laugh-out-loud script, audience interaction, and the chance to meet the characters after the show, you are invited to join Mowgli and his friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther on a madcap adventure in the jungle as they meet and attempt to outwit a slithering snake, some cheeky monkeys and the fierce tiger, Shere Khan.

Starring Milkshake! favourites; Bob the Builder, Little Princess, Noddy, Fireman Sam, Shimmer & Shine, Pip from Pip Ahoy!, Winnie and Wilbur, Wissper, and two Milkshake! presenters, this all singing, all dancing, musical masterpiece, will take audiences on a journey through the world’s favourite fairy tales.
