Last week I received the dream email … did I want to go the the opening of the revamped Matalan Cardiff store for a trolley dash*? Umm, yes please!
It put me well and truly out of my comfort zone to meet up with five other bloggers (all fashion and lifestyle bloggers) in the Matalan Cardiff Queen Street, but I do love an excuse for a bit of shopping. As I don’t spend as much time on my blog as I should, I rarely get opportunities out of it, and I’m so grateful when an email like this lands in my inbox.
So off I went to Matalan Cardiff, which I have to admit isn’t a shop I usually venture into. I had to pinch myself when we were were handed an envelope of vouchers and sent around the store on a shopping spree! I started in the womenswear section and picked up a few outfits to try on.
My favourites were these two skirt and top combos. I love how you could dress the first skirt up or down (and the colours are quite festive, and the “forever” slogan jumper was lovely and snuggly.
The skirt also comes in a pinafore dress style, which I’ve seen online for £20 but couldn’t find in the shop.
I also really liked the dress below, but I haven’t got anything planned that I could wear it to, and I’ve stopped buying clothes that I might end up only wearing one or twice since having a clear-out a few weeks ago.
Once I was sure I’d covered the whole women’s section, I headed upstairs to check out the home range. The whole first floor is dedicated to homeware now, with a lighting section where I fell in love with a rose gold dome lamp, accessories, artificial plants and bathroom products. Oh, and the Christmas decorations are out! There’s a proper pink and silver theme going on this year, which is so pretty.
I picked up a few accessories for our living room … a fluffy pink cushion, a little plant pot with cute wooden legs, and a metal frame, which all have 20 per cent off this weekend. The three came to £17 which is amazing value! You’d pay that for one of them elsewhere. I spotted a rattan mirror, which was really quirky, and some wooden soldiers which would be lovely on the mantle piece for Christmas.
We had a £50 budget for our shopping spree, and I was almost done when I picked one more thing which took me £5 over.
Just wait for the excitement.
We have a new bath mat … with tassels!
I know. Tassels. You wouldn’t have been able to resist either.
So in 45 minutes, and with £55 I managed to buy a new outfit, some pretty little bits to tie the living room and the bath mat of dreams. I’d say that was a pretty successful shopping trip myself!
Huge thanks to Matalan for sending me on my trolley dash!
*I was very kindly gifted £50 to spend in the Cardiff Matalan store. All opinions in this post are mine.
